RCMP are hoping the public can help with its investigation into a hit and run involving a 72-year-old pedestrian in a Merritt parking lot last month.
Officers were called to the Aberdeen Cold Beer and Wine store around 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, after the pedestrian was hit by a white four-door pickup truck, which left the scene, according to an RCMP media release.
Police are now looking for witnesses and dash cam footage from the area. Surveillance footage from the scene shows the truck driving near the parking lot, just visible within the frame of a screenshot from the video.
"We are seeking the public's assistance to identify the truck and driver," Merritt RCMP Const. Nichols Maciejewski said in the release.
"It's possible the driver was unaware they struck the pedestrian and we are asking them to do the right thing and contact us."
The 72-year-old was taken to Nicola Valley Hospital for assessment and had injuries that were non-life-threatening.
If you have dash camera footage from the area at around 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, or if you witnessed the incident and have not yet spoken to police, call Merritt RCMP at 250-378-4262.
