Man with multiple warrants arrested after assault at Kamloops motel
A wanted man was arrested at a Kamloops motel this past weekend as police investigated an assault.
Police responded to the Columbia Street West motel around 12:50 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, where a disturbance escalated to an assault, according to an RCMP news release.
RCMP said no charges were requested for the assault, but a 29-year-old man at the scene was found to have multiple arrest warrants.
Brandon Lee Toutsaint is scheduled to appear in court today, Dec. 20, for a break and enter, theft of a vehicle, driving while prohibited in Elk Valley, mischief charges from Cranbrook and assaults. Most of those charges appear to be from the Kootenays, but most of his court appearances have been in Kelowna, according to court documents.
RCMP said he's a Kamloops resident.
Toutsaint was scheduled to be sentenced for at least some of those charges on Nov. 28 before the warrant was issued. On Jan. 5, the court will assess whether he's fit for trial.
