Noah the top baby name in B.C. for 2022

Many of the most popular names for babies born in B.C. this year are the same as last year, although the ranking has has changed.

Noah was the most popular out of 37,801 babies born this year in the province up until Dec. 8. In 2021, Noah ranked number three, according to a Ministry of Health press release issued today, Dec. 30.

Olivia was the second most popular name in 2022, dropping from the number one spot last year.

The other top names in 2022 were Oliver, Liam, Theodore, Jack, Emma, Lucas, Leo and Sofia, based on the Vital Statistics Agency's preliminary figures for the year.

In 2021, 44,073 babies were born in B.C. That year the most popular names, after Olivia, were Liam, Noah, Emma, Jack, Theodore, Benjamin, Charlotte, Oliver and Ava.
