iN PHOTOS: Swimmers braving frigid waters at Polar Bear Dips across Kamloops, Okanagan

Beaches in Kamloops and the Okanagan aren't usually busy in the dead of winter, but going for a dip on New Years Day is a fun tradition, so today's an exception.

One of the most popular spots in the South Okanagan was at Sun-Oka Beach Provincial Park in Summerland. Hundreds of fearless folks stripped down to their swim gear while it was 2 Celsius to jump into Okanagan Lake, which was 3 C.

“It’s supposed to be good for you,” said Fred “Frozen” Friesen from Penticton, who's been jumping into Okanagan Lake nearly weekly with his friend Dr. B.

Numerous other Polar Bear Dips are happening throughout the region today. Any readers who would like to share photos from any of the events can send them to news@infonews.ca.
