KELOWNA – First term councillor Colin Basran has called a press conference today at 10:30 a.m. where it is anticipated he will announce his intention to run for mayor of Kelowna.
Basran, 37, said in the past he was considering running soon after current mayor Walter Gray hinted at his retirement February 13.
"I am considering (it)," Basran said at the time. "But only if our current mayor decides not to run. I'm happy with the job that he's doing. If he were to run again, I would not run against him."
Basran was a reporter for CHBC/Global before he was elected to Council in 2011.
In B.C., general municipal elections are held every three years, with the next taking place November 15.
