Semi-truck driver dead after vehicle plunges into lake

RCMP are investigating the death of a semi-truck driver who's body was recovered after the vehicle submerged into Shuswap Lake on Tuesday night.

Media sources report the male driver is believed to have drowned after a dive team discovered his body in the lake near the cab of the semi truck.

Police were alerted of the incident after a passing motorist saw the trailer floating in the water.

They discovered the vehicle had veered off the road over an embankment before plunging into the lake.

The truck's trailer has since been removed from the lake and had Alberta licence plates.
