Beginning Monday, May 5, at 7 a.m. sidewalk removals will begin on the northwest corner of the Queensway and Water Street intersection to allow for shallow utility relocation. This work is in preparation for the road upgrades that will occur as part of the Queensway transit exchange and road upgrades.
Intermittent lane closures may occur. Two-way traffic and pedestrian crossings will be maintained. Traffic control personnel will be directing motorists and pedestrians. They appreciate the patience of residents, businesses and motorists while construction is taking place.
Construction is expected to be complete by Victoria Day weekend.

Background
A $5.6 million investment in Queensway transit exchange and road upgrades begins this summer as part of BC Transit’s RapidBus Phase Two and Three Project.
The improvements will provide ease of transfer with amenities to provide a comfortable and convenient environment for transit patrons, operators and security personnel.
Kelowna RapidBus is a partnership between Transport Canada, the BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, City of Kelowna, District of West Kelowna, Westbank First Nation and BC Transit. In total, the project will receive up to $46 million from federal, provincial and local partners.
