Web app puts information in the pockets of air travellers
Connecting at Kelowna International Airport has a new meaning today.
The official YLW mobile web app was launched and puts the airport in the pockets of anyone with a mobile device. The app contains travel planning tools, parking information, retail services and other features and was created to help travellers experience an easy journey to and through the airport.
"Travellers today are rarely without mobile or electronic devices," says airport director Sam Samaddar. "Being able to access flight information easily has become a travel necessity."
Features include:
- Live flight updates on demand
- Parking rates and information
- Full shop and restaurant listings
- Links to airlines serving YLW for bookings and check-in
- Mobile pages available in French and English
Almost 1.5 million passengers flew through YLW in 2012 and the number of people using the airport doubles according to Samaddar when calculating friends and family picking up or dropping off passengers.
The YLW mobile web app can be used on a variety of devices including iPhone, Android, Blackberry and Windows smartphones and tablets.
