WHL PLAYOFFS: Kelowna Rockets advance to West Final

KELOWNA – The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Victoria Royals 7-3 on Friday night winning their best-of-seven series in five games and advancing to the WHL Western Conference final beginning next weekend in Kelowna.

Josh Morrissey returned to the line-up and led the offensive attack with a five point night, scoring twice and adding three assists in the win, April 17.

The Rockets scored first in the game as Leon Draisaitl opened the scoring, but then fell behind 2-1 in the first before Morrissey's first of the game tied the score 2-2 heading to the second period.

Kelowna scored three times in the second and added two more in the third to earn the win outshooting Victoria 39-21 in the game.

Rourke Chartier, Tyson Baillie, Rodney Southam and Cole Linaker also scored for the Rockets while Nick Merkley and Draisaitl each had two assists.

The Rockets now advance to the WHL Western Confernce final series which will begin next Friday and Saturday nights at Prospera Place against the winner of the Portland-Everett series.
