KEREMEOS – A man was hit by a pickup truck and killed on Highway 3 in Keremeos last night.
Cpl. Shana McLeod says the man was hit by a 2012 Dodge pickup while he was crossing the highway near Schneider Road around 11:30 p.m., April 17.
“The male was wearing dark clothing,” McLeod says in a media release. “The driver of the truck remained on scene and is being cooperative with police.”
She says alcohol and speed have been ruled out as factors in the incident. No word if any charges will be laid.
The highway was closed for several hours overnight as officers from the South Okanagan Traffic Section investigated.
RCMP describe the victim as a Caucasian man, between 25 to 30 years of age.
McLeod originally released a description of the victim in an effort to help investigators identify the man, but she has since said they have a possible ID and no longer need the description made public.
She adds any further information will be released by the B.C. Coroners Service.
Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact the Keremeos RCMP detachment at 250-499-2250.
