Man accused in courtroom attack sentenced for sexual abuse

LANSING, Mich. – A Michigan man convicted of sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl in a cemetery and later accused of trying to attack a prosecutor in a courtroom has been sentenced to about 20 years in prison.

The Lansing State Journal reports (http://on.lsj.com/2d01LMe ) 35-year-old Joshua Harding was sentenced Wednesday after being convicted of second-degree criminal sexual conduct. He waived his right to be in the Ingham County Circuit Courtroom and watched via video.

The courtroom attack, captured on video, wasn’t mentioned during sentencing. State authorities are reviewing reports and no charges have been filed.

Video shows assistant prosecutor Jonathan Roth got out of the way at the last second on Aug. 2 while officers tackled and subdued Harding, who lunged at Roth with a metal shank.

Harding is a registered sex offender.
