Kelowna’s newest attraction will test your nerves and your teamwork
KELOWNA – The door locks behind you and the clock starts counting down.
You are trapped in a dimly lit room and an eery soundtrack begins to play in the background. For the next 45 minutes you and your team search frantically for clues as you try to escape Kelowna's newest and perhaps most thrilling attraction.
Owners Tony and Linda Murran of Kelowna brought the game, called Exit, to the Okanagan after visiting one in Richmond.
“It’s spreading very fast,” Linda says. “It’s very fun, very exciting. It keeps people captivated.”
Murran says since opening to the public last Wednesday they have been surprised at the immediate interest from the public.
“We’ve been packed, actually,” she says. "It's been very busy and we've had nothing but positive reviews from the people."
The game is designed for a minimum of two players and a maximum of six and each team has 45 minutes to get out the final door.
Murran says less than one per cent of teams are successful their first attempt.
“It’s quite difficult,” she says. “We’ve had a lot of players who are completely new to the concept… who come back to try again or try another room."
Murran says they plan to switch up the puzzles and clues every six months and even introduce new themes to keep it fresh for locals and returning tourists.
Currently there are four themes to choose from, each with multiple rooms players have to access through a series of puzzles. There is a Mannequin room, a Black Ops room, Mystic Jungle and Ninja House.
She says their target audience ranges from younger teens to seniors, and there are no special skills required — except bravery.
“It’s not a math game,” she says “It’s more about thinking outside the box and working as a team.”
Exit Kelowna is located at 2453 Highway 97N and open 3 p.m. to midnight on weekdays and noon to midnight on weekends. The cost is $25 per person with a 15 per cent discount for corporate bookings. Walk-ins are welcome but Murran recommends larger groups book ahead.

I’ll make it real simple here, then you can try to not misquote me next time: “Do something challenging BY YOURSELF….notice how I said SOMETHING…….be it naything…a marathon, tighter groupings on a target, increase the distances, jump out of airplanes…put your ‘Chuck Norris’ skills in a real fighting arena (battlefield)…..I’ve been on two. THEN, you can challenge your adversary…………..my point was if you are too chicken shit to take up a challenge from another person (that would make two) do things by yourself to get a feel of where you are within yourself (limits).

If there is a minimum of 2 people required, why would he have to buy up 6 positions?He should only have to pay for himself and 1 extra spot, no?Anyway, he sounds a little too egotistical to me…..after all isn’t it supposed to be a game not a competitiion?

we are going to do this tonight will post coments on how it is as I am a vivid gamer and also play the game can you escape wich is where the game style originates and just to let Rambo know you can book a room to yourself but you must buy out all 6 positions so for 142 dollars each one on one is possible.

Do I have a pistol? if so I call the game/room dungeon master that’s holding us hostage – on the phone there, I ask him how many of my friends in the room do I pop in the head to get him to unlock the door for me….aaaaaand I’m FREE!

Real intestinal fortitude comes straight to you when you do it by yourself. Do it once, for yourself. Balls to the wall. Then you can play with your friends. Test yourself. By yourself.

Joshua Grant actually there trained to survive and use all their senses under stress and are more likely to notice smaller clues…..and yes the military does teach you how to escape in case of being captured….but thanks for being a ignorant douchebag…..think if your trained to get into a building kill someone and get out of the building without anyone knowing, I’m pretty sure they have a better chance then you….and you sounding this dumb, id put a 100 on me getting out before you!
