Two dead, pilot seriously injured in northern Quebec plane crash
QUEBEC – Investigators gathered evidence Monday at the site of a weekend plane crash along the Mouchalagane River in northern Quebec.
The crash occurred on Sunday afternoon between Fermont and the Manic-5 hydro generating station.
Quebec provincial police spokesman Jean Tremblay said two passengers aboard were killed — a 55-year-old man from Gatineau, Que., and a 38-year-old man from St-Maurice, a town in central Quebec.
The pilot of the Cessna 206 was seriously injured and transported by helicopter to a Quebec City hospital with serious burns.
Tremblay said crime scene technicians are collecting evidence and detectives hope to speak to two witnesses on the ground.
“They (investigators) will try to talk with two hunters who are from the area — friends of those who sadly perished,” Tremblay said.
The information gathered by police will be transferred to the Transportation Safety Board for its investigation.
