Kelowna Community Food Bank is ‘Growing’

The Kelowna Community Food Bank along with several community partners and committed volunteers are excited to plant a series of community gardens with the bountiful harvest destined for the homes of food bank clients.

“More and more of our clients are asking for healthy options, and fresh produce and fruit is tops on this list,” says Executive Director Lenetta Parry. “No one struggling with financial challenges and food insecurity should be denied healthy food.

The Kelowna Community Food Bank consistently aims to provide the highest nutrition possible for our clients. This project will not only provide fresh food for families, but also an opportunity to engage our community green thumbs with our clients.”

In addition to the individual ‘Plant A Row, Grow A Row’ program, there are close to a dozen gardens around the city — at schools, daycares and long term care facilities — where the harvest is designated for the Kelowna Community Food Bank.
