Bike to Work and School Team Leader Workshop on Wednesday at City Hall

VERNON – The City of Vernon is hosting a Team Leaders workshop at City Hall from 4:45 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29, for the upcoming Bike to Work and School campaign.

The free workshop is for team leaders who want to encourage staff and students to cycle to work and school during Bike to Work and School Week, May 25 – 31, 2015. The workshop is sponsored by Domino’s Pizza and CUPE 626.

Team leaders will receive Bike to Work Week updates including the presentation “Bikes Benefit Business “ from Mia Kohout at Momentum magazine, a Bike to Work and School t-shirt as well as a promotional kit to promote Bike to Work and School Week at their workplace.

Bike Skills & Safety courses through the City of Vernon are also available to assist all cyclists on why and where collisions occur, physical skills needed to negotiate traffic safely, five traffic principles and the most common errors cyclists make.

Course dates are:
• May 2, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• May 5 and 12, 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. 
• May 6 and 13, 5:30 pm to 8 p.m.

The cost for this course is $20 per participant.
