Vernon woman chopped from MasterChef Canada

VERNON – Vernon’s MasterChef contender Jennifer Innis is toast.

The local dental hygienist and mother of three was eliminated from the competition after falling short in a tea treat challenge. She and partner David Jorge struggled to produce profiteroles for the tricky task, and bickered throughout the challenge.

But Innis still has a smile on her face, insisting the contest was the opportunity of a lifetime.

“I know I gave absolutely everything I could in this competition, I put my heart on a plate every step of the way,” she says in her exit interview.

She says she went into the competition a home cook, but now knows she’s capable of creating beautiful, refined and nicely plated dishes.

And she has a message for Canadians: They’re not done seeing her yet, this is only the beginning.
