PARIS – French anti-terrorist forces are conducting raids on locations in the northwestern Paris suburb of Argenteuil near a mosque and an Islamic library.
A top security official said both France’s top counter-terrorism organization, the DGSI, and the country’s elite police were involved in the Thursday raids that targeted two private residences.
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because she was unauthorized to speak publicly on the matter, said she didn’t know if the raids had any links to last week’s truck attack in Nice that killed 84 people and couldn’t elaborate further.
France has suffered three major attacks in 18 months that have killed 231 people and officials say they have foiled myriad other plots to wreak havoc on the public.
