B.C. review board to mull partial freedom for dad who murdered his 3 children
COQUITLAM, B.C. – The issue of partial freedom for a man who murdered his three children is back before a British Columbia review board today.
The doctors at the psychiatric hospital where Allan Schoenborn is being held are recommending that he be granted escorted day outings.
The Crown is introducing a new witness during the three-day hearing this week who is expected to counter the method that psychiatrists use to determine Schoenborn's risk to the public.
The Crown is expected to lay a foundation to ask that Schoenborn be designated a high-risk offender under new federal legislation.
Schoenborn was found not criminally responsible in 2010 for the deaths of his daughter and two sons in their Merritt, B.C., home two years earlier.
While the man has had several review hearings, he has never been released from the psychiatric institute east of Vancouver.

This man does not deserve to walk free, he took the life’s of his own children.
Couldn’t agree more Roanda Bartley. He should have no rights.
If he’s deemed responsible now, put him on trial.If not, throw away the key.
If he could fly in a mental rage and kill his very own children, what makes you think he wouldn’t do it again to someone he is not related to? Come on!!!!
Keep him locked up the mother of the three kids feeling should come first he well hurt her down the road if let out even for a day His mind does not work right
Yes he was deemed mentally ill but… he committed a horrific crime and should not be released.His children and their remaining family members deserve to know that he will not be granted freedom no matter the judgement of the psychiatric institute.If he has recovered enough to be released, in their opinion, then he is recovered enough to face the consequences of his crime.
What does he need day outings for? He has no right to be in society and why should he?
