Province revealing proposed upgrade for dangerous Vernon intersection

VERNON – Members of the public can get more information about proposed changes to a well-used road off Highway 97 on the Swan Lake auto mile tonight.

Full details about the Ministry of Transportation’s plan for Stickle Road where it meets Highway 97 have so far been scarce, but government officials intend to unveil the proposal at an open house Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Prestige Hotel.

The Regional District of the North Okanagan has been calling for safety upgrades at the intersection, and identified it as a priority in a series of recommendations made to the Ministry of Transportation earlier this year.

  1. I attended the open house and viewed the governments proposal for the intersection. I would have been embarrassed to have my name on what they presented as a solution! No left turn? Redirect traffic onto a narrow residential road? Preposterous!
