Spences Bridge shooter still at-large

SPENCES BRIDGE – Almost a year after a cyclist was shot during the Cache Creek 600 cycling marathon the person, or people, responsible are still at-large.

Despite the victim issuing a public plea for more information on his attacker after being shot near Spences Bridge last June Sgt. Rob Vermeulen, a spokesperson for the RCMP, says the shooting is still under investigation, with no updates to provide.

Craig Premack was cycling along the Trans-Canada Highway around 1 a.m. on June 1, 2014, to make his final stop in Cache Creek by morning when he felt 'explosions' next to him. He was shot in the arm. Premack said he peddled quickly to escape the shooter, and saw a dark coloured vehicle drive away from the pullout close to where he was shot.

To stop the bleeding from his elbow, Premack made a tourniquet and sat on the side of the road before someone noticed him and called for help.

Following the attack, investigators and Premack requested any one with information on the event to come forward.

“I am making a personal appeal to anyone that has any key information to please come forward,” he said at an RCMP press conference last July. “The community at large needs to be protected from this person.”
