Puerto Rico police seize $17M worth of cocaine, arrest 5

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – Authorities in Puerto Rico say they have seized $17 million worth of cocaine off the island’s southeast coast.

Police said Thursday that they found 1, 500 pounds (680 kilograms) aboard a boat that was arriving in the town of Patillas. Officials said five Puerto Ricans have been arrested and that they are searching for two other suspects.

The case has been turned over to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
