Silvercorp Metals post lower Q1 profit as sales down on lower prices, production

VANCOUVER – Silvercorp Metals Inc. (TSX:SVM) says it earned net income attributable to equity holders of $6.1 million, or four cents per share for the period ended June 30, compared to $25.6 million or 15 cents per share in the same period last year. It recorded sales of $44.5 million, down from $69.7 million year over year on a lower realized silver price and lower metal production.

Telus wireless segment helps boost Q2 revenue to $2.7 billion, profit up 1.2%

VANCOUVER – Telus Corp. (TSX:T) says it had $2.7 billion in revenue during the second quarter, a four per cent increase over the same time last year — primarily due to the strength of its wireless business. The telecom company’s net income was $328 million, up 1.2 per cent from the same time last year. Earnings per share rose to $1.01 from 99 cents.

Finning earns $81.3-million second-quarter profit, ups revenue guidance

VANCOUVER – Finning International Inc. (TSX:FTT) said Wednesday it earned $81.3 million or 47 cents per share on $1.76 billion in revenue in the quarter ended June 30, down from a profit of $81.9 million or 48 cents per share on $1.48 billion in revenue. The heavy equipment dealer also raised its revenue guidance for the year to growth between 12 and 15 per cent compared with earlier expectations for growth of eight to 10 per cent.
