Goldcorp extends bid for Osisko Mining until March 21; other terms unchanged

VANCOUVER – Goldcorp Inc. (TSX:G) it extending its takeover offer for Osisko Mining Corp. (TSX:OSK) until March 21. Under terms of the offer, Osisko shareholders are entitled to receive 0.146 of a Goldcorp common share plus $2.26 in cash for each Osisko common share. Earlier this month, litigation between the two companies was resolved when, among other conditions, Goldcorp. agreed not totake up and pay for any Osisko shares under its offer until April 15.

Endeavour Silver feels effects of big price declines; posts Q4 loss of $115.8M

VANCOUVER – Endeavour Silver Corp. (TSX:EDR) has cited lower metals prices as well as the effect of higher taxes on its operations in Mexico among reasons for swinging to a big loss in the fourth quarter. The Vancouver-based miner says its net loss in the three months ended Dec. 31 was US$115.8 million or $1.16 per share compared with a net profit of US$14.8 million or 15 cents per share in the same 2012 period. Revenue increased two per cent to US$67.9 million on higher volume sales of silver and gold.

Fortress Paper ends tough year with $54.7-million loss in fourth quarter

VANCOUVER – Fortress Paper Ltd. (TSX:FTP) posted a $54.7-million loss in the fourth quarter as it wrote down the value of property, plant and equipment at a Quebec cellulose mill that has been hit by weakened demand and the threat of high Chinese import duties.
