The City of Kelowna owns the 10-acre gravel pit on Westlake Road in West Kelowna. The city has owned the pit since the 1960s and uses the 80,000 metric tons produced a year for city projects like road maintenance. 

In 2025, the detachment bolstered its team dedicated to monitoring repeat offenders in Kamloops.

"The cold coming into the Okanagan and Kamloops, it doesn't seem like a repeat of what we had in January 2024."

The suspect tried to talk to the women and then "initiated unsolicited physical contact," RCMP said.
