Museum’s new board searching for exhibits sent for repair
SHREVEPORT, La. – Missing exhibits from a Louisiana museum are being sought after by officials as a new management group is taking stock of the children’s science centre.
KTBS-TV reported Monday the Sci-Port Discovery Center board is searching for the exhibits. The previous board sent items away for repairs after the centre closed nearly a year ago. It planned to renovate the 20-year-old centre and add new exhibits.
Sci-Port’s new director Dianne Clark says she and Shreveport officials haven’t found an inventory. The city owns the equipment and exhibits the previous board left behind.
Red River STEM is a new non-profit taking over the museum. It and Shreveport are negotiating which will pay to get the exhibits back.
Clark says parts of the centre will also have to be rebuilt before it reopens.
