2 officers injured in explosion at shop in downtown Budapest

BUDAPEST, Hungary – Hungarian police say that two officers on foot patrol have been injured in an explosion at a ground-floor shop in downtown Budapest and been taken to a hospital.

Police and rescue personnel cordoned off the area late Saturday near the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music and were searching for witnesses.

Earlier, the Budapest disaster management agency said that blast which occurred at 10:30 p.m. (2030 GMT) did not set off any fires at the scene. No information was available about what caused the explosion.
