AIRDRIE, Alta. – A Mountie who pulled over a speeding car in southern Alberta says he was surprised when a hand popped out of a wriggling box in the back seat.
Sgt. Darrin Turnbull says he discovered a young boy playing inside the cardboard box.
He says the driver told him the preschooler had refused to ride in a proper car seat.
The officer says children often fight getting in their car seats but they have to be strapped in.
He says the adult, who should have been in charge, ended up with a $167 speeding ticket.
The driver must also appear in court on a charge of failing to properly secure a child in a motor vehicle.
