Colombia singer’s bike taken, jokingly apologizes to Shakira

BOGOTA – Carlos Vives, who recently recorded a song about a bicycle with Shakira, has jokingly apologized to his fellow Colombian singer for being unable to give her a ride on his bike after it was stolen.

Spokesman David Castano of the Bogota Metropolitan Police says Vives’ personal bike and that of his godson were stolen Thursday in the capital.

The bikes were taken from outside a store.

Vives apologized on Twitter to Shakira, saying he could not give her a ride on the bike “because I was just robbed and it’s raining a lot in Bogota.”

Vives and Shakira recently recorded a song named “La Bicicleta,”or The Bicycle, as well as video showing the pair riding bikes in different parts of Colombia. The stolen bike did not appear in the video.
