Near-record heat this weekend in Kamloops; water parks open

KAMLOOPS – After a week of near-normal high temperatures the mercury is expected to again hit above the 30 Celsius mark throughout the region this weekend.

Environment Canada is calling for highs of 32 C Friday, Sept. 11, and 30 C Saturday, well above the seasonal normal high of 22 C. The sun will accompany the heat both days, making the summer heat feel that much warmer.

While the temperatures will be warm, they will likely remain just shy of record highs of 32.5 C to 33.1 C.

Because of the warm temperatures the city is opening Albert McGowan and Westsyde water parks from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday through Sunday.

Sunday, things is expected to cool back down to the seasonal normal high with a mix of sun and cloud and then Monday will be a couple degrees cooler with a chance of showers.

At 13 C, overnight lows will be above seasonal normals of 9 C Friday and Saturday night before dropping back down to seasonal normals Sunday night.
