Halloween fun in Penticton

PENTICTON – Halloween falls on a the weekend this year and there are a variety of events to celebrate the ghoulish day in Penticton.

Downtown Penticton Associations’ annual Trick or Treat on Backstreet' event takes place Saturday, Oct. 31, running from 3 to 7 p.m. on Backstreet Boulevard. There will be trick-or-treating in local businesses, a haunted house and a vote for Penticton’s most popular pumpkin.

Activities on Main Street, also starting at  3 p.m., include free face painting in Nanaimo Square from 3 to 4:30 p.m. and a costume parade that starts at 4:30 p.m. at the corner of Wade Avenue and Main Street. The parade will head north and Main Street and terminate on Backstreet Boulevard. Prizes will be up for grabs for most original costume, cutest costume, best themed group and best dressed pet.

A Halloween skate is being hosted by the City of Penticton, at McLaren Arena from 2 to 4 p.m. Dress up in your Halloween costume for on-ice games and a chance to win a prize for best costume. Regular admission rates apply.

South Okanagan Women in Need Society’s second annual charity slot tournament 'SOVAS Halloween Howler' takes place at Penticton Lake City Casino, with registration starting at 6 p.m. The $20 registration fee gets participants two drink tickets and a $5 to $50 U-spin. There is a $500 prize pool, and 100 per cent of proceeds go to the women in need society.

Indoor trick or treating takes place at Cherry Lane Mall from 3 to 5 p.m. Look for the balloons to know which stores are handing out treats.

At LocoLanding it's spooky mini golf with 'Haunted Holes' from 6 to 10 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 29, through Saturday. Cost is $10 per person.
