KELOWNA – RCMP have reopened Highway 97 near Parkinson Drive after a serious crash.
Police confirm that a Chevy Malibu heading north crossed the centre line of Highway 97 crashing head-on into a five-ton truck. According to an RCMP crash analyst, the three occupants of the car were killed instantly, Global News reported today.
Both lanes were closed for almost four hours by Kelowna RCMP and the Central Okanagan Traffic Services after the multiple vehicle collision.
Traffic was diverted at Airport Road and Beaver Lake Road. Glenmore Road moved at a crawl while Highway 97 was closed as motorists attempted to use the alternative route to get to their destinations.
