Man killed in workplace fall at Kamloops construction site named

KAMLOOPS – The 45-year-old man killed when he fell from a scissor-lift at a construction site in Kamloops earlier this month has been named by the coroners service.

Sean Alexander Donetz of Burnaby fell while performing clean-up work at a City View Centre worksite on Highway 5A Nov. 25, Larry Marzinzik of the B.C. Coroners Service says in a release.

Donetz fell about three metres to the concrete below and a witness immediately called 9-1-1. He was transported to Royal Inland Hospital and later transferred to Kelowna General Hospital. He succumbed to his injuries Dec. 1.

The coroners service and WorkSafe B.C. continue to investigate.

“The investigation is still very much in the early stages," WorkSafe B.C. spokesperson Scott Money said earlier this week. "WorkSafe B.C. takes these matters very seriously and will take a very thorough look at this incident.”

Results of the investigation aren’t expected until March 2016.
