WATERLOO, Ont. – BlackBerry Ltd. (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSX:BB) says it has resolved its legal dispute with Typo Products LLC, a maker of add-on keyboards for the Apple iPhone.
The Waterloo, Ont.-based company alleged that the Typo — which was co-founded by “American Idol” host Ryan Seacrest — had copied its keyboard design and launched a lawsuit in California in early last year.
The smartphone maker says Typo has agreed to permanently discontinue the sale of keyboards for smartphones and mobile devices with screens that are less than 7.9 inches or about 20.1 centimetres.
The ban won’t apply to keyboards for devices with bigger screen sizes.
Other terms of the settlement weren’t disclosed.
