Most actively traded companies on the TSX

Some of the most active companies traded Wednesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (16,284.21, down 73.34 points)

Aurora Cannabis Inc. (TSX:ACB). Healthcare. Down 81 cents, or 5.48 per cent, to $13.98 on 32.6 million shares. After an acrimonious, months-long takeover battle, Aurora has struck a friendly deal valued at $1.1 billion to buy rival licensed producer CanniMed Therapeutics Inc. (TSX:CMED) (up $4.39, or 11.70 per cent, to $41.90 on 2.3 million shares), marking the biggest deal yet in Canada’s marijuana sector. The deal also means CanniMed will abandon its plans to acquire Newstrike Resources Ltd. (TSX-V:HIP) and pay a $9.5-million break fee as a result of its decision.

Sherritt International Corp. (TSX:S). Miner. Up four cents, or 3.17 per cent, to $1.30 on 6.7 million shares.

Kinross Gold Corp. (TSX:K). Miner. Up three cents, or 0.53 per cent, to $5.68 on 6.5 million shares.

Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Aerospace, rail equipment. Down one cent, or 0.32 per cent, to $3.14 on 5.6 million shares. The U.S. International Trade Commission has rejected Bombardier’s petition to reopen the case against the C Series in order to consider newly disclosed facts about Embraer’s E190-E2 jet. The American agency made its decision a day after the Montreal-based transportation company argued that the Brazilian plane’s range above 2,900 nautical miles qualifies it to be considered as a competitor in the 100- to 150-seat segment of the market.

MEG Energy Corp. (TSX:MEG). Oil and gas. Down four cents, or 0.67 per cent, to $5.97 on 5.5 million shares.
