VERNON – A North Okanagan man accused of murdering a local school teacher will stand trial this summer.
Howard Everett Krewson allegedly killed 51-year-old Linda Ross, a teacher in the Vernon School District’s Alternate Learning Program, in June 2014.
Krewson is due to stand trial in Vernon Supreme Court starting Sept. 12. He will be tried by a jury.
According to the RCMP, Krewson and Ross had been in a brief relationship prior to what police suspected was a murder and attempted suicide. When officers arrived at the Trinity Valley Road home the evening of June 19, 2014, they found Krewson suffering from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was airlifted to hospital and later charged with second degree murder.
Ross is fondly remembered by her students and those in the teaching community.
