Hung jury after three month murder trial in Kamloops, mistrial declared

KAMLOOPS – A mistrial has been declared in the latest murder trial to take place in Kamloops Supreme Court.

Around 6:30 p.m. yesterday, April 12, the 12-person jury for Peter Beckett, charged with first degree murder, announced it was unable to reach a consensus. The trial lasted three months.

Beckett, who is accused of murdering his wife Laura Letts-Beckett will return to court to fix a date for a retrial. He remains in custody.
