Crash on Highway 97 near Summerland

SUMMERLAND – A two-vehicle crash on Highway 97 between Summerland and Penticton this morning has sent one person to hospital.

RCMP say the collision between a commercial panel van and a GMC Yukon, which were both northbound on Highway 97, sent the Yukon off the road and into some trees along the shoreline of Okanagan Lake.

The driver of the van has complained of whiplash and was taken to hospital. The person behind the wheel of the SUV wasn’t hurt.

Police are trying to figure out what caused the crash.

The highway along Kickininee Provincial Park is open.
