Alex Chiasson of the Ottawa Senators has been awarded a US$1.2 million, one-year deal in arbitration on Sunday.
The restricted free-agent forward and the Senators went to arbitration with Chiasson asking for over $2 million and the team asking for $1 million.
Chiasson was part of the trade that sent Jason Spezza to the Dallas Stars last summer.
The 24-year-old had 11 goals and 15 assists in 76 games this past season.
“In our opinion, both sides made fair, detailed arguments and we are satisfied with the ruling of the arbitrator,” Senators general manager Bryan Murray said. “We are happy to have Alex under contract and anticipate that he will be a productive player for us this season. Alex will be given the chance to have an important role in the team’s success.”
Mike Hoffman is Ottawa’s last major RFA left to sign.
Hoffman’s arbitration hearing is set for Thursday.
