Waterfront vendors ready for summer in Penticton

PENTICTON – The vendors who ply their trade on the beaches in Penticton during the summer months started off the summer season with a bang thanks to the hot weather last weekend.

This weekend doesn't look as promising, weather-wise.

City of Penticton land administrator assistant Sheri Raposo says beach vendors have received their permits from the city but not all vendors have started their season yet.

Darcey Godfrey is one operator who started her season earlier this month. She says the weather was perfect for her business on the Skaha Lake waterfront where she operates Glowsup Adventures. Hers was the only concession in operation at Sudbury Beach.

“People flocked to the beach because of the hot weather, last weekend” she says.

Godfrey is operating summer hours  from 10 a.m to 5 p.m daily and again at 9 p.m. for glow in the dark paddle boarding.

On Okanagan Lake, the Penticton Wibit park will be returning to the Lake Okanagan waterfront with a scheduled opening date of June 18.

Operator Rylie Gallagher says the inflatable waterpark will be expanded to allow up to 100 customers at a time in hopes of building on last year’s success. Prices will be kept at last year’s levels with plans to incorporate multiple day pass options for convenience and gift ideas, in one, three or five day increments.
