Foul play ruled out in Myra Canyon trestle death

KELOWNA – The body of a man was removed from the base of one of the middle trestles in Myra Canyon today, but police say foul play is not suspected.

Duane Tresnich of Central Okanagan Search and Rescue says a hiker phoned COSAR the afternoon of June 27 and said they saw “an object” below the large metal trestle.

A six member team was dispatched and determined the object was the body of a man.

“It was too dangerous to extract him at night,” Tresnich says. “RCMP were there all night and with the help of Penticton Search and Rescue the body was extracted early this afternoon.”

Const. Steve Holmes says foul play is not suspected and the body of the middle-aged man was extricated by helicopter Tuesday afternoon.

It is not yet clear what happened.
