Cultural grant panel call for applications

KELOWNA – An exciting performance. Stretching your skills at an art class. A stirring of memories through a heritage exhibition. These are just some of the experiences that residents and visitors can enjoy thanks to numerous arts and culture organizations in the city – organizations which obtain financial support through the City’s cultural grants each year.

This year, residents are invited to make a difference and contribute to Kelowna’s cultural vitality. The City of Kelowna is seeking up to 12 qualified Kelowna residents to serve on a Cultural Grant Panel. The Panel will adjudicate funding applications for the City’s cultural grant programs and provide advice to City staff on grant administration procedures and processes.

“Kelowna’s busy cultural calendar depends on the sustainability of many organizations which create a rich array of programs and events,” said Cultural Services Manager Sandra Kochan. “Our community is very fortunate to benefit from the creativity and dedication of the staff and volunteers who do this work. The Cultural Grant Panel plays an important role in adjudicating applications and assisting the City in determining which programs and events provide the most benefit and impact. This arms-length perspective is a key part of a fair and objective process.”

Individuals interested in being on the Panel are invited to submit an application by 4 p.m., Friday, November 4. An application consists of a letter or resume outlining relevant experience, and reasons for interest in the role. Email and telephone contact information must also be included. Details about eligibility and the work of the Cultural Grant panel can be found at the City of Kelowna's website.

Applications can be submitted:

  • By Email to culture@kelowna.ca by the deadline
  • By delivery to the Cultural Services Branch at #105 – 1014 Glenmore Drive, Kelowna, BC V1Y 4P2 by the deadline
  • By mail to the address above, on the condition that the application arrives prior to the deadline

Late applications will not be accepted.
