Penticton RCMP stop suspected drug trafficker

PENTICTON – There is one less drug dealer operating in the city following efforts by Penticton RCMP.

Police spokesperson Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth says the detachment’s Targeted Enforcement Unit was conducting a traffic stop on Green Mountain Road west of Penticton on Wednesday, Oct. 18 at 10:30 p.m. when it stopped a black Ford Mustang.

The woman behind the wheel was found to have several grams of what is suspected to be crack cocaine. She was arrested for possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

A search of the vehicle revealed score sheets, several cell phones, a digital scale, and a quantity of money, in addition to 50 grams of methamphetamine, several grams of heroin, and more than five ounces of suspected cocaine, police say. The woman’s vehicle was also seized and towed.

“The items when found together help build the picture of a drug dealer,” Cst. Kyle Richmond of the Targeted Enforcement Unit says.

The 49-year-old woman was released on bail with conditions. She is scheduled to be back in Penticton court on Nov. 2
