Penticton RCMP seek public’s assistance in identifying masked robber

PENTICTON – Penticton RCMP are investigating a robbery that occurred in the city last night.

RCMP spokesperson Rick Dellebuur says RCMP responded to the Husky Food Store on Westminster Avenue last night, Nov. 9, at 9 p.m. following report of a robbery.

The female clerk told police a man wearing a “skull” bandana covering his face came into the store and demanded money from the till.

He told the clerk, who was alone in the store, not to call police.

She placed cash on the counter and the suspect grabbed the money and fled the store.

Police searched the area with a police dog but were not able to locate the suspect.

No weapon was seen during the incident.

The man is described as white, 35 to 45 years of age, approximately five feet, nine inches tall with a heavy build, weighing approximately 200 pounds.

He was wearing a white or black balaclava, a grey-brown fabric suit jacket that appeared a size or two too small, a thick, grey, button up shirt, baggy pants, a bright red and blue baseball cap and running shoes with yellow soles.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding this crime to contact the Penticton RCMP at 250-492-4300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

– This story was updated at 1:50 p.m. Nov. 10 to include a surveillance photo of the suspect.
