Six taken to hospital after mass Vancouver stabbing; police arrest suspect

VANCOUVER – Police in Vancouver say six people are in hospital and one man is in custody after a mass stabbing at an apartment in the city’s west end.

The incident took place Thursday evening in the 1200 block of Barclay Street, and police say when they arrived on scene, they found seven injured people.

Police say six were rushed to hospital with undetermined injuries and a suspect was arrested a short distance away.

The motive for the assault remains unknown.

Investigators from the police’s major crimes section and forensic investigators are expected to remain on the scene throughout the night.
