Snow across the Okanagan heralds drop in temperature for the weekend

OKANAGAN – The Okanagan is experiencing the first significant and valleywide snowfall of the season this morning.

The white stuff may not hang around in the valley bottoms though, as Environment Canada is forecasting periods of wet snow with a highs of up to 3 Celsius and a low tonight of only -1 C throughout the valley.

The weekend forecast is for a mostly cloudy Saturday with chances of showers with a high of 6 C and cloudy Sunday with snow or rain reaching a high of 1 C.

It will turn cold Sunday night with the mercury dropping to -5 C.

Next week is expected to be significantly cooler, with the forecast for Tuesday calling for sunshine and a high of -4 C, followed by highs of -5 C on Wednesday and -6 C on Thursday. Overnight lows are expected to plunge to around -10 C.

Roads are wet and slippery, especially at higher elevations this morning.
