KAMLOOPS – A pair of naloxone training sessions have been confirmed thanks to the efforts of a Kamloops woman.
To help combat the growing death count due to opioids like fentanyl, sessions facilitated by Vancouver-based harm reduction organization Karmik and ASK Wellness are planned.
Brittany Gill organized the two opportunities in hopes people will learn how to administer naloxone, which can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose caused by fentanyl or similar drugs, saving a persons life.
The sessions, lasting about an hour, will be at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17 at a new ASK Wellness space at 185 Royal Ave. It will be $10 to attend, with the money donated to Karmik and ASK Wellness.
Gill says there is room for 20 people per session. To encourage participation they also have donated door prizes to give away.
