Canadian women’s team goes 2-1 on opening day of Sao Paulo Sevens

SAO PAULO – The Canadian women’s rugby sevens team will face France in the Cup quarter-finals of the Sao Paulo Sevens after winning two of three games on the opening day.

Ghislaine Landry scored two first-half tries for Canada in a 26-7 win over Ireland in the opener.

Canada followed with a 24-7 victory over Fiji before dropping a 29-14 decision to Australia.

Canada is coming off a sixth-place finish at the Dubai Sevens in December.
