Christine Sinclair prepares for return to Canadian soccer team after suspension

Captain Christine Sinclair says it was “no big deal” to miss a couple of soccer games in January and February as she prepares for her return to team Canada.

Sinclair hasn’t played internationally since Canada’s bronze-medal win at the Olympics, as she served a four-match suspension for a post-game incident following the team’s semifinal loss to the U.S.

She’s in Nicosia, Cyprus, and expected to see action Friday when Canada takes on Finland in its second match at the 2013 Cyprus Women’s Cup.

She says the team has done well without her.

Canada opened with a 2-0 win over Switzerland and will finish group play against the Netherlands Monday.

The top team from Group A will then square-off against the top team in Group B in the Cyprus Cup final next Wednesday.
