PEACHLAND – The driver of a pickup truck managed to escape serious injury today after his vehicle went off the highway and hung over the edge of steep embankment north of Peachland.

RCMP received multiple 911 calls shortly before 9:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 3, with reports that a pickup truck had crashed into and climbed atop a concrete barrier on Drought Hill along Highway 97 north of Peachland.

“The vehicle’s rear tires stopped the truck, which came very close to tumbling over the embankment,” Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey says in a media release. “The driver and sole occupant of the older model blue GMC pickup truck escaped the crash uninjured.”

The man was assessed and released at the scene by emergency paramedics.
