Nationwide parliamentary elections in Pakistan to be held May 11

ISLAMABAD – A spokesman for the Pakistani president says that nationwide parliamentary elections will be held May 11.

Farhatullah Babar said Wednesday that the president had approved a proposal finalizing the May date for the upcoming election.

The polls will mark the first time that one civilian government has handed over power to another.

That’s a first for Pakistan, which has a history of military rulers assuming power.
